Introducing the Leaf'd Education Kit-- the first of it's kind! We've taken all we know about gardening, plants, and cooking and made one amazing box that will help take your family from planting, to pasta sauce!

We've grown specifically developed plants that grow SUPER FAST and will go from your box to full grown meals over the course of just 10 weeks. And best of all, we've developed a custom curriculum with two lessons each week delivered to your inbox and available anytime on your custom online learning portal. From helping your family learn all about plants, how to grow them, and how to enjoy them, our simple to follow lessons and guides make the whole process as easy and fun as possible.

From activities such as making homemade fertilizer for plant food, to learning about different plant types and parts, to learning how and when to pick the fruit and what to do with them, you're in for one grand adventure!

By the end of the ten weeks, you will have grown over eight types of plants and gone through some amazing recipes to use them-- all family friendly of course! With your kit, you'll get 30 live veggie plants, a seed kit, a curriculum book with two weekly activities that include journaling, and short video lessons that accompany it all (something the kids will love to see!).

Since veggies grow best in the spring and summer, please pick the month you'd like to start your project, and leave the rest to us!

We love bringing families closer together by sharing wonderful experiences outside-- seeing and tasting the joy of mother nature while learning to care for the environment and appreciating the beauty in it. We hope you love your journey as you see the life flouring from your own back yard!

Medium Veggie Garden Seasonal Subscription (Billed Quarterly)

Great quality

I've had this subscription for over a year now, and originally started with the large veggie subscription but downgraded because I was running out of room between seasons. The plants always arrived in great condition, and I like that they frequently do Q&As on Instagram for growing tips and garden updates. I've even had a lot of luck trying to plant my own starts from seeds harvested from older boxes. My only complaint about the small veggie box is that I wish that the variety was more on par with the large box. I would have preferred to get zucchini, basil, peas, or beans as I did with large summer box last year, instead of getting doubles of tomato, pepper, and cucumber since I already had the ones growing from the last season’s box (for a total of three of each plant growing simultaneously).

So far So good

I love the convenience of planting organic plants at the right times of year! I have planted my first box after hardening off the veggies since we have high temperatures above 90's here and they are doing well! Still waiting to see how they will all turn out, but for now, just patiently waiting and making sure they have enough water.

Hello Jessica! We are so happy to hear that your plants are doing well and that you are loving your growing experience. We cannot wait to hear about your harvest of delicious vegetables!

Quality

I got my first Leaf'd box around Feb 19th so I've had about a month of growing time at the time of this review. I used to start my own seedlings but it's been awhile since I had space to garden and this looked like a great and easy way to jump back in.
The box arrived with the plants packed securely, laying on their side, in plastic clamshell containers with labels on the lid. Some looked a little rough, especially the more tender leafy greens, but overall they did pretty well. All the seedlings have recovered and are growing well now. A couple of the plugs had more than one seedling and I was able to split some of these, which is nice. Some of the leafy greens are about big enough now that I can start and pick leaves off for a small salad.

I appreciate trying to reduce printed materials that get shipped, but it was a little awkward trying to scroll through the "zine" (a QR code/link is included in the box) to for information while planting. The labels and zine don't include any variety information, which is a bit disappointing to me. I do like their suggestion to cut out plant markers from the lid, though they could tweak the layout slightly to make it friendlier to do so.

The materials were less tailored and detailed than I expected based on the advertising, so maybe this will improve over time. The packet of carrot seeds that came with had pretty minimal information as well.
On the whole it's certainly much more expensive than starting your own/direct sowing seeds, but probably competitive when compared purchasing seedlings locally. I think I like to have more detail and part of the fun of gardening is picking out varieties that I want to grow, so I don't know if I would keep this up year around and ongoing.
If you're budget conscious, like more control over varieties, and have some experience (or want to try!) then I think you may better off going the DIY route. But if you have the cash and want an "instant" veggie garden, don't have time or energy (or missed the window) to start your own seeds, are trying to garden for the first time and don't have a clue where to begin - I think Leaf'd is pretty neat!

Hi Joy! Thanks so much for your comments! We’re so pleased to hear your garden is growing well and that you’re going to be able to start enjoying your own delicious homegrown veggies any day now that you’re a month in! So exciting!

And thanks for the recommendations. We’re always trying to find the balance of the right amount of information. We don’t want to drown people in info so they miss the most important parts, but we also want to give everyone the info they want. One way we’ve started doing this is by breaking up the info that we used to mail in the zine. Now we send it to you via text/ emails with the right info at the right times, along with video snippets to help you walk through each step. We hope this is really helpful!

And you’re totally correct— planning out your own veggie garden and starting it from seed is the cheapest way to go. What we’ve really focused on is offering the easiest way to give you a great veggie or herb garden without all the work of planning it out and starting it yourself. While there is the lack of choosing the color or shape of your tomato, you get the benefit of getting amazing varieties (selected from over 5000 that we’ve tested!) at the right times, for one great garden! Another cool thing is our One to One program, where we support one person with clean water for each subscriber— so for long as you’re enjoying fresh, delicious, homegrown Leaf’d veggies, someone in Honduras is getting access to clean water who otherwise wouldn’t. We’re super proud to be a part of something like this, and you can see more at leafdbox.com/one

Thanks again for being a wonderful part of the Leaf’d family, and we’re here to help if you ever have questions or need support. Hope you enjoy your delicious veggies!
